Das Album eines Drummers, ein Schlagzeug-Album. Ben Ratliff schreibt darüber in Every Song Ever. Die Aufnahme dieser Track (Rudy Van Gelder) ist erstaunlich: Das Schlagzeug klingt präsennter als sonst in anderen Quartett-Aufnahmen. Van Gelder stellt es bei der Aufnahme in einen über 12 m hohen Raum und legt ausserdem Reverb auf die Snare und Basstrommel.
Ratliff schreibt: «Music is thought of as primarily existing in time; that’s what defines it philosophically. But it also exists in spatial relation to the microphone or the ear, and most of the advances in production and audio technology have had to do with making elements of music sound like they’re in your face or down the hall or next door, around you or evenly before you, flat or tiered.»
