Der Track ist frech. Er provoziert, gerade heute in einer Zeit, in der man diskutiert, Klassiker vom Sockel zu stürzen, weil sie möglicherweise sexistisch oder rassistisch waren. Fujiyama Mama
trivialisiert und sexualisiert die Atombombenabwürfe über Nagasaki und Hiroshima. Ist das nicht ein Mangel an Respekt, eine amerikanische Überheblichkeit, die Ignoranz des Siegers gegenüber dem Unterlegenen?
Interessanterweise scheint der Song in Japan ein grosser Hit gewesen zu sein (während er in den USA keine Rolle in der Hitparade spielte).
Es heisst: «Ich war in Nagasaki, in Hiroshima auch!
Was ich dort angerichtet habe, Baby, das kann ich auch mit dir tun! Denn ich bin eine Fujiyama Mama ...» Hier singt eine Frau, die sich nicht nur als Sexbombe, sondern als Sexatombombe inszeniert.
Diese Art von Frechheit, wurde erst im Punk zu so etwas wie einem Standard. Daher weist der Track historisch weit nach vorne.
Der Song stammt aus einer Zeit, in der man die apokalyptische Gewalt, die von den neuen Kernwaffen ausging, noch ignorierte. Die Atombombe war nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg erst einmal eine Friedensbringerin. Es war für die Amerikaner die kriegsentscheidende Waffe.
