Man kann lesen, dass «With Or Without You» eine Simple-Verse-Struktur aufweist. Das halte ich für falsch. Diese Auffassung kommt daher, dass der Song auf einer I-V-vi-IV-Progression beruht. Schaut man auf die Lyrics statt allein auf die Musik zu hören, entdeckt man eine Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Struktur, die man wegen der gleich bleibenden Progression als «Simple-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Struktur» bezeichnen muss. (Das geschieht in Analogie zur Simple-Verse-Chorus-Struktur.) Der Track beruht zudem auf einem Ambient-Vamp, einer Quinten-Figur, die einen sonischen Teppich für das Lied bildet.
Das Arrangement arbeitet mit einer Steigerung, die in der Coda kurz auf den Ambient-Vamp zurückfällt, um dann noch einmal laut zuwerden, bevor der Track ausgeblendet wird.
