Die erste Single von Johnny Cash. Sie stiess auf Platz 14 der Country Charts vor. Die B-Seite der Single war Hey, Porter.
Der Song steht in der Tradition von C&W-Songs, die über eine untreue Frau lamentieren. Neu an der Nummer aber war, dass der Erzähler weder moralisiert noch sich als Opfer ihrer Bosheit stilisiert. Vielmehr spricht der Song über die Konsequenzen, die der Untreuen drohen und zieht eine rachelustige Befriedigung daraus.
Der Song hat grosse Änlichkeit mit dem späteren Folsom Prison Blues.
Die Schreibweise mit den Ausrufezeichen findet sich auf den Shellack- und Vinyl-Singles. Auf der LP von 1957 wird der Song ohne sie und mit Kommas geschrieben.
