Harmonisch verbleibt der Song in der genannten Harmoniefolge, appliziert diese auf Verse und Chorus und demonstriert damit just, wovon der Text spricht. «stuck and running». Der zweite Verse spricht von einem Aufbruch in eine andere Welt. Andeutungen an den Wettlauf ins All aus den 1960er Jahren werden gemacht und ein wichtiger Song aus dieser Epoche zitiert: Space Oddity von David Bowie («Breaking through the atmosphere» und das Glissando als Einleitung zum Chorus). Vera Lynn klingt noch an «We can meet again somewhere

. Während harmonisch also nichts passiert, dekliniert der Song mit den Mitteln von Melodie und Arrangement die formalen Teile einer Verse-Prechorus-Chorus Form durch. Die simple Pianoballade des verses wird im Chorus zum bombastisch in Szene gesetzten Rocksong. Melodisch sind Verse und Chorus ziemlich identisch.
