Erste Single der Gruppe beim Independent-Label Candix. Die Verantwortlichen haben die Band, die sich The Pendletones nannte (nach einem Hemd, das von Surfern getragen wurde), umbenannt zu The Beach Boys.
Leadgesang kommt von Mike Love, der Begleitgesang besteht aus Scatsinging. Dass auf einer Surf-Single gesungen wurde, war eine Innovation. Bisherige Surf-Songs waren Instrumentals. Brian Wilson spielte mit den Fingern einen Rockbeat ohne Hi-Hat auf den Drums.
