Aaliyah war 2001, als ihr 22-jähriges Leben bei einem Flugzeugabsturz beendet wurde, gerade zum R'n'B Top-Act aufgestiegen. Sie war in der Positionin der The Weeknd vor etwas weniger als zehn Jahren war. Was wäre aus ihr geworden? Niemand zweifelt, dass sie einen mit The Weeknd vergleichbaren Erfolg gehabt hätte. Insofern passen die beiden R'n'B-Stimmen sehr gut zusammen.
Aaliyah nahm offenbar nur die Verses von «Poison» auf – der Song hatte keinen Chorus. Und hier steigt The Weeknd ein und gibt dem unvollendeten Track den transtemporalen «Finish». Nächstes Jahr dürfen wir ein posthumes Album von Aaliyah erwarten und da gibt es noch mehr Kollaborationen: Drake, Future, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown und Snoop Dogg.
