Das Spark Label, auch Spark Records, wurde von Bob Kingston in London gegründet. Kingston arbeitete beim Musikverlag «Southern Music». Die Künstler beim Label kamen praktisch alle aus diesem Verlagshaus. Unter ihnen befand sich zum Beispiel Eric Woolfson (später bei Alan Parsons Project).
Spark hatte einen Distributionsvertrag mit Pye Records, aber die Platten wurden schlecht beworben und vertrieben. So war das Label nicht sonderlich erfolgreich. Aber die Releases erzielen heute hohe Liebhaberpreise. Etwas mehr Erfolg hatte Spark in den 70er Jahren mit Bands wie den Peppers, The Band Of The Black Watch oder Wigan's Ovation (nicht auf dieser Compilation).
