Das erste Album von Ultravox ohne Ausrufezeichen im Namen und das letzte mit John Foxx und für das Island-Label.
Das Album war wie die Bowie Alben Low und "Heroes" ein grosser Einfluss auf Gary Numan (Billy Currie wird mit ihm zusammenarbeiten und zu seiner Tourband gehören) und später auf die Bands aus dem Umfeld der New Romantics.
Die Band verwendet den ARP Odyssey und die Roland TR-77 drum machine.
Das Album wurde in Köln von Conny Plank aufgenommen, der auch Vienna produzieren wird und die verschiedenen Phasen der Band gewissermassen zusammenhält, die nun vergehende mit John Foxx und die künftige mit Midge Ure.
Ultravox ging mit dem Album auf eine US- und UK-Tour, wobei die Band auseinanderfiel und das Label sie fallen liess. Foxx machte einen Abgang, Gitarist Robin Simon blieb in den USA und Billie Currie begann für Gary Numan zu spielen.
Als Midge Ure bei der Band einstieg, entstand das mittlerweile klassische Lineup mit ihm, Warren Cann, Chris Cross und Billie Currie.
